The Christian recognition of death is a part of the Church’s offering of the whole of life to God and the funeral service is a time to worship God, celebrating the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, in witness to the faithfulness of God in life and death.
A funeral service gives thanks for a specific person’s life and to mourn their passing form this life, to dispose reverently of the body and to witnesses to the reality of death which is a basic part of our common humanity, that all of us must face.
